Soundscopia Vienna: Workshop Wisycom Funk-Technologie

mit Daniel Jäger

In his workshops, Daniel Jäger (Product Specialist at Wisycom) provides besides basic RF knowledge an in-depth technical training on the use of Fiber Optic technology in complex wireless applications. The primary focus of these sessions is overcoming the physical limitations of traditional coaxial cables by implementing RF over Fiber (RFOF) solutions.

Programm

Workshop Content & Key Topics

The training is designed for professionals in theater, broadcast studios, and live events who need to manage large-scale or multi-zone wireless environments.

- LWL Technology Fundamentals:
Introduction to fiber optics in antenna technology and its advantages, such as zero signal loss over vast distances.

- RFOF System Architecture:
Implementing the BFL System (e.g., BFLT1/BFLR1 or the newer BFL2) as portable interfaces to transmit antenna signals over several kilometers.
Configuring Multi-Zone Systems using the MATF (RF-over-Fiber Matrix), which can centrally manage up to 8 diverse zones.

- Practical Applications:
Coverage for microphones and In-Ear Monitoring (IEM) in expansive venues.
Bridging different locations (e.g., stage, backstage, and TV compound) without interference or signal degradation.

- Remote Management & Monitoring:
Utilizing Wisycom Manager software to remotely control and monitor filters, gain levels, and system status via Bluetooth, Ethernet, or LoRa.

- Wisycom Technologies Covered

Daniel Jäger typically demonstrates the synergy between specific Wisycom components:

- BFL Series: Single- or dual-channel modules that convert RF signals into light signals for single-mode fiber.

- MFL Fiber Rack: A 19" rack solution capable of handling up to 4 RF channels over a single fiber using CWDM technology.

- Advanced Filtering: Use of integrated, tunable filters (e.g., 40 MHz bandpass) to ensure RF robustness in challenging, crowded environments.
